ASA 2022 Special Focus Boom Session version 2, 08-MAR-2022 A special sonic boom focus prediction session is planned as part of the 182nd Acoustical Society of America (ASA) meeting to be held from 23-27 May 2022 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel in Denver, Colorado. The session is intended to cover the state-of-the-art for predicting focused booms on the ground under aircraft accelerations. Near-field waveforms would be provided and participants are encouraged to apply their best practices for predicting sonic boom ground signatures and their associated metrics for the cases provided. Important Dates: - 24 January 2022: Due date for ASA abstracts – 23 May 2022: Submission of results to the NASA Box file share location. - 23-27 May 2022: 182nd ASA Meeting The Third Sonic Boom Prediction Workshop Propagation Presentation Guidelines (Version 2) will be reused for ASA 2022: https://lbpw.larc.nasa.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2019/11/SBPW3_Propagation_Presentation_Guidelines_v2.pdf The test cases are in the case1 and case2 directories. https://lbpw-ftp.larc.nasa.gov/asa-2022-focus-boom/case1/ https://lbpw-ftp.larc.nasa.gov/asa-2022-focus-boom/case2/ See the files Focusing_Case1_Spec_v0.txt and Focusing_Case2_Spec_v0.txt in these directories for details. Previous focus boom optional case from AIAA SBPW3 https://lbpw-ftp.larc.nasa.gov/sbpw3/propagation/ allow new participants an opportunity to practice the focus boom prediction process and self-evaluate results based on published submissions and submission statistics.
